What to Do With Old Tennis Racquets

My garage and closet had become a graveyard of racquets. Every one of them still had life left, but none of them had touched a court in years.

As a former junior tennis player that went on to be a college tennis player, collecting racquets just felt like part of the journey. Every season brought a new frame to play with. Sometimes I'd switch because of a recommendation from a coach/teammate, or simply because I wanted to see if the latest technology could improve my game. The older racquets? They always seem to be forgotten and ended up leaning against the garage wall or tucked away in the back of a closet.

Over the years, that small collection quietly grew.

There were racquets that had won big matches, racquets that traveled with me across the country, and others that never quite became my favorite. Each one carried a memory, which made it surprisingly difficult to let go.

Then after college when it was time for me to move to a new place, while moving boxes around in the garage, I stopped and looked at all of the racquets I seem to have forgotten...

They weren't broken. They weren't worn out. In fact, most of them were still in great condition. They simply weren't being played with anymore.

These racquets still had plenty of tennis left in them.

Somewhere, there was a junior player looking for an affordable upgrade. Someone picking up tennis again after years away. Or maybe someone trying the sport for the very first time who couldn't justify spending hundreds of dollars on a brand-new frame.

My unused racquets weren't the problem—they were an opportunity waiting to find the right player.

I realized I probably wasn't the only person with a garage full of equipment collecting dust.

If you've played tennis, pickleball, or padel for any length of time, chances are you've accumulated gear that no longer fits your game. The problem isn't that we don't want to pass it on. It's that finding the right home for it has never been as easy as it should be.

Looking back, I realize those racquets in my garage and closet weren't just forgotten equipment - they represented a problem that countless players experience. Quality gear sits unused while other players are searching for affordable ways to get on the court. The equipment is out there; it's just a matter of getting the racquet sports community together to find each other and to talk the same language we all love to speak, RACQUET SPORTS.

That's why Paql was created.

Not to build just another marketplace, but to create a place designed specifically for the racquet sports community. A place where tennis, pickleball, and padel players can confidently buy and sell equipment, extend the life of quality gear, and help grow the sports we love.
